AMICCOM Launches Next-Generation Low-Power Sub1GHz Wireless SoC A9136M4 with Full Wi-SUN Protocol Support
- 2024/11/25
AMICCOM proudly announces the release of its next-generation low-power Sub1GHz wireless SoC, A9136M4, in November 2024. Fully compatible with the Wi-SUN FAN 1.0 protocol, the A9136M4 combines high performance and cost-effectiveness, making it ideal for a wide range of IoT applications.
The SoC integrates an ARM® Cortex® M4F processor, with up to 512Kbytes/1536Kbytes of Flash memory and 80KBytes SRAM, providing powerful features to meet the increasing demand for high-performance wireless solutions.

High-Performance RF Design for Multi-Band Applications:

The A9136M4 employs a low-IF CMOS FSK/GFSK RF transceiver design, tailored for wireless applications in the 169/315/433/470/868/915MHz ISM bands. It delivers a maximum TX power of +20dBm and achieves an impressive FSK sensitivity of -109dBm @ 50kbps FSK, ensuring reliable long-range communication.

The SoC also incorporates a built-in DCDC converter for improved power efficiency. In 3.3V DCDC mode, the RX mode consumes just 9.48mA, while the TX mode draws 85.36mA @ 19.14dBm. Additionally, the A9136M4 supports programmable RF output power (-30dBm to +20dBm) and data rates ranging from 0.25Kbps to 1000Kbps, offering users the flexibility to optimize configurations for various applications.

Key RF features, such as TX/RX FIFO, VCO frequency, and calibration, can be precisely adjusted via the SPI interface. Users can also use strobe commands to quickly switch between various modes, including power-saving modes (deep sleep, sleep, idle, standby), PLL mode, TX mode, and RX mode.

In FIFO mode, the A9136M4 automatically generates preamble sequences, and users can set synchronization bytes through SPI commands. Additionally, the integrated 2048-byte separate TX/RX FIFO facilitates payload read and write operations. Advanced features such as CRC error detection, FEC (Hamming 7×4) for 1-bit error correction, Manchester coding, and data whitening for encryption/decryption further enhance reliability and security in data transmission.

Feature-Rich and Flexible Applications:

The A9136M4 is equipped with a wide range of built-in functions, including a voltage regulator, RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator), temperature sensor, low voltage detection, carrier detection, and automatic retransmission. It also supports Wake-on-RX (WOR) functionality, enabling periodic wake-ups from sleep to RX mode for efficient data monitoring without MCU intervention. This significantly simplifies system development and reduces overall costs.

In future iterations, the A9136M4 will feature hardware-based 802.15.4g packet processing and IEEE 802.15.4-compatible MAC acceleration, with the upgraded version named A9146M4. These enhancements will expand protocol support and improve communication efficiency to cater to broader application requirements.

Wi-SUN FAN 1.0 Certification and Versatile Applications:

The A9136M4 has successfully obtained Wi-SUN FAN 1.0 certification, making it suitable for IoT applications such as Smart Grid, Smart Cities, Industrial Automation, Agricultural Applications, and Smart Homes. We are confident that the A9136M4 will open up endless possibilities for our customers, driving success in the market. Meanwhile, AMICCOM is actively developing new products for the Wi-SUN FAN 1.1 protocol, expanding our product line to meet growing customer demands.

Availability and Packaging:

The A9136M4 is available in a QFN 6x6 48L package, and shipments have already begun. Samples and evaluation modules are available upon request to kickstart your product development.

Thank you for your support and interest in AMICCOM!
Sincerely,

The AMICCOM Team
